1 Year old black and white pinto gelding
Green Mountain HMA
Galloway is a very nice colt, but still a bit apprehensive with people. He is getting to where he trusts me and will allow me to halter him in the round pen, he leads great, stands tied, is super good about being bathed and is starting to allow his feet to be handled. He has been worked on the ground and from another horse, which has really helped him to settle in. He is Very athletic and quick. He still reacts to things that scare him. He is making great progress and will make someone a very nice horse. I recommend this colt for an adopter that is Experience or that will have Experienced help with his training and learning process. He needs someone that is very patient and will allow him to “get it, process it, and learn it”.
For more info on Galloway call Steve Mantle 307-331-2225 during CFD.

1 Year old sorrel and white pinto gelding
Green Mountain HMA
Ace is a beautiful pinto gelding. He is halter started and coming along nicely in his training. He can be a little reactionary at times as he is still unsure about trusting people. Ace wants to be your buddy he's just still a little unsure, once he realizes he can trust people he is going to be your best friend! This sweet gelding would be best suited for an adopter who has some experience with young, green horses. He will do great with an adopter who's willing to be patient and consistent with him in his continued training, as his trust continues to grow.

Maurice would be best suited for an adopter who has some experience with young green horses. He is friendly and willing just still a bit reactionary to new situations. With some patience and consistent Maurice will make a great horse.

1 Year old brown gelding
Green Mountain HMA
Cody is coming along nicely, he has a bit of a standoffish type personality, which shows me that he’s completely comfortable doing his own thing and does not always have to “go with the group”. He’s good to halter either in the round pen or the stall, leads great and stand tied without a fuss. He was very protective about his feet in the beginning and was not willing to have them picked up but that’s been something that I have worked on constantly and he is good about it now, just something that may come back around full circle when he gets shipped to a new home. He a a very personable horse with a very nice conformation to him, he’s an easy moving colt and shows a lot of athletic ability. He loves his baths and will drink from the hose, fly spray is not an issue for him and he loads in and out of the trailer like a champ.
I would say this colt would be good for any adopter but to further his training he will need someone that is either experienced or has access to an experienced trainer as he is a very smart colt. For more info on Cody 2666 please contact Steve Mantle at 307-331-2225

1 Year old palomino filly
Green Mountain HMA
Butters is a very alert and feminine horse. She was extremely scared and reactionary in the beginning and would go into flight mode at the drop of a napkin. She’s really making a lot of progress and can be caught in the round pen or the stall. She is leading well either from the ground or from a saddle horse. She understands moving her feet in a controlled manner, yielding her hind quarters and moving over her front end. She is getting better about being tied. She would panic in the beginning but understands it now. She will let me pick up all of her feet and I have trimmed her front feet. She loads in and out of the trailer nicely and is really starting to trust people. She would be best suited with someone that has experience with young horses or has help from an experienced person. I believe she will grow and be a very flashy mare that will continue to catch people’s eye whether in the show ring or gathering cattle or on a trail ride. For more information on Butters you can contact Steve Mantle at 307-331-2225

1 Year old sorrel gelding
Green Mountain HMA
Jackson the little red horse. He is really wanting to find a friend, soft eyed and kind this colt is. He has always been quiet and is definitely not at the top of the pecking order. In the beginning he was very scared but curious and found out he liked his scratching. He is good to halter in either the round pen or the stall, leads either from a foot or from another horse. He stands tied pretty quietly but will always be looking to see where the others are. He’s still just a baby and feels safer with you or others. He travels with a nice easy motion and appears to have a long stride, should be a smooth riding type horse in the future. He is great about getting a bath, loads in and out of the trailer like a pro. He is good about having his feet picked up and handled, will be trimmed by CFD time.
I would recommend this colt for about any adopter, but again all additional training needs an experienced hand or access to someone experienced. For more information on Jackson 2678 please contact Steve Mantle at 307-331-2225

5 Year old dun gelding
Adobe Town HMA
Droggo is a giant among his fellow horses, as he stands just under 16 hands and weighs around 1250 pounds. This gentle giant has a very kind, soft eye, and an easy going attitude. Nick Mantle has had this horse since he was two and he has really filled out as a five-year old. He has massively large feet and bone with a beautiful dark buckskin body with tiger stripes on his legs. He also has a predominate dark dorsal stripe down the middle of his back. This horse has had a pack trip to the mountains fixing fence, has ridden in the arena, and also been on outside rides. He will have had approximately 30 rides and months of preparation. He is still green and needs consistency to keep him updated on his training. This is going to be an amazing piece of horse flesh when he is completely finished but is now ready to pound out miles doing just about whatever you want

2 year old gray mare
Divide Basin HMA
Maria is a short stout little two year old mustang standing around 14 hands. This little horse is a bit more nervous than some of the others but is very kind and learns quickly. She has a beautiful dark gray roan coat with long mane and tail. This horse is very athletic and moves out willingly. She also has been taken to the mountains on a pack trip, and has been ridden in the arena and outside. She just keeps getting kinder and more gentle the more we work with her. She is ready for a good home where she will get continued training and education. I don’t believe this horse will ever get very big but has great bone structure and good confirmation.
She is featured in video at the top of this page

She has a dark mahogany body with four white stockings. Nick Mantle has ridden this horse bareback as well as with a saddle and has had no problems. This horse just keeps improving the more he works with her and she has a kind willing attitude. She has been ridden outside as well as in the arena. Nick says, "This is one of the more gentle mustangs I have seen in a lot of years." She has good confirmation and is ready for a good home.

2 Year old gray gelding
Salt Wells Creek HMA
Ghost Rider is a very well put together gray two year old. He stands just under 15 hands tall. He is proportionally put together very well with a level top line and deep girth. He has long legs and travels smoothly. He has beautiful dappling along his ribs, chest and hindquarters. We took this horse to the mountains where he packed two blocks of salt and a roll of wire. He went all day long with no shoes on and showed no signs of soreness or fatigue. This is a super tough horse that will go all day. He has been ridden in the arena as well as outside but needs time and consistency to keep him honest. This is a very athletic horse that would make a great performance prospect. He is in the video at the top of the page

In 2019, the BLM celebrates 21 years of working with the Mantle Family to train and gentle wild horses for adoption. Each year, the Mantle Ranch cares for approximately 200 head of mixed-age and gender of horses. The Mantle Ranch is a family-based business consisting of Steve Mantle, Bryan Mantle and Katie Sherman, and Nick Mantle and his wife Kayla. Steve started working with wild horses in the 1980’s and both Bryan and Nick have 19 years of continuous time working in the family business with the wild horses and BLM. Their operation currently uses the Internet to place over 50% of the adopted horses. The facility offers on-site, and in-person adoptions by appointment. Their training methods involve simple safety, patience and consistency as the top priorities. They spend time observing the horses’ behavior, and then develop a training plan for each horse based on their specific needs.
